What is GEOPIK?

In an effort to solve the inefficiency of the Philippine Postal System and to help people in the e-Commerce, Logistics and all Location-dependent businesses solve customer location problems, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) – Cebu Provincial Office is very pleased to launch the first-ever geo-mapping databasing or the Business Geographic Information System in the Philippines, the GeoPik (Pik means Place Identification Key) is a technology that was developed to enable people to identify the address of businesses by just using simple “digital address”--- called GeoPik.

Geo mapping software is an enabling technology – it takes any business data with a location element (which most data has) and turns it into a visualization that is engaging and approachable – a map.

In business, location is critical. But what if your location is hard to find? Small businesses, including our sari ari stores will be easy to locate with a Geopik code! Imagine the possibilities.

Geopik App version 1.5 released to app store and play store!

Did you know that postal code in Metro Manila differs on how it is being constructed than otehr parts of the Philippines?

SM City Cauayan conducts annual Fire Drill

SM City Cauayan conducts annual Fire Drill

In coherence with the campaign of Bureau of Fire Protection on Fire Prevention this month of March, SM City Cauayan conducts its annual Fire Drill today.

Annual Fire drill is one of the company’s effort to guarantee the readiness and preparedness of its tenants and employees to respond on fire incidence.

This simulation is conducted in collaboration with Bureau of Fire Protection-Cauayan City, City Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office/Rescue 922 and Philippine National Police.

Around 340 mall employees, mall tenants’ employees, security guards and agency personnel took part on the drill. The drill aims at training its employees to be familiar with the fire alarm and evacuation signals, the fire exits and evacuation routes, and procedures for evacuation.

Simulated situations were prepared to showcase the disaster response skills of Emergency Response Group (ERG) of SM City Cauayan. Situations such as responding to injured victims and pregnant woman were carried out to check the mall’s ERG skills.

The drill also aims in enhancing the coordination of the mall’s ERG with the friendly-forces in the community during emergency situations and its ability to account the people within the mall premises.

The Fire drill is one of the annual activities conducted by the mall to freshen-up the responsibilities of each member of the Emergency Response Group and to equip the mall employees with skills that they can use during fire incidences.

It also aims to evaluate the preparedness, logistics and capability of the mall in handling disaster situations. It is part of the company’s continuous efforts to ensure the safety of the mall-goers and employees.
